John E. Poulos, M.D., completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa FL and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University School of Medicine, St. Louis MI. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a native of Wilmington, N.C. He is a former Fulbright nominee, and was recognized by the American College of Physicians as Internal Medicine Resident of the Year. He was also recognized by Who’s Who in the South and Southwest regions of the United States. Dr. Poulos has been an invited speaker at national meetings of the American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Physicians. He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Liver Disease. Dr. Poulos has also received a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health for his work in the study of liver diseases and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals including Annals of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and New England Journal of Medicine. He has been conducting clinical research trials for more than twenty years.
